No, I did not finish this book. I couldn’t. It’s incredibly triggering. I got to 43% and asked myself why I even endured that much of the book. The beginning was interesting, it had me staying up way too late on a work night. However, I questioned my sanity once the first Sexual Assault (SA) event took place. Yes, there were trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, but I didn't think that the SA would be that descriptive and triggering. Just to be upront, I am a survivor of SA and had so many flashbacks from reading this.
Do we need another female main character (fmc) to act as a damsel in distress? Do we need another fmc to be a complete dumbass? NO. The writing from this author also needs a lot of work. The "spicy" sections made me recoil into my sad being. This author needs help mentally and with editing.
Z is a rapist and has no business thinking of himself as this righteous person that deserves love from the “perfect” woman. He preaches about saving young girls and killing rapists when he himself is a RAPIST! The book literally transitions from Adeline describing a SA to Z ranting about how much he wants to save children from trafficking. It makes zero sense and I feel sorry for you if you’ve read this entire book.
The only reason I downloaded this book onto my Kindle was because of a TikTok account I follow. She reacted to reading this book, and it seemed harmless. I had no idea what the book was about, I legit thought it was about a haunting. I was very, very wrong.
